The Multimedia and Web Design course was filled with multiple learning activities and assignments that contributed to my personal professional growth. Emerging technologies project, copyright presentation, hand-coding, and creation of a webquest helped me enhance my professional expertise and share it with the staff and students in the school. The work completed throughout the course was relevant, authentic, and very engaging.
Creation of the webquest was a culminating task in the course, and everything we learned in the class was practiced in the process. I completely enjoyed learning about proper colors, layouts, fonts, etc. that would make our digital presentations more attractive, and I used the newly-learned principles of design in the project. The webquest was created for third graders to address Social Studies Georgia Performance Standards. After it was shared with the teachers in the school, the entire unit plan or its parts were used in different classrooms. Working with one class and co-teaching with the homeroom teacher provided me with an opportunity to test the lesson and practice my coaching skills.
A copyright presentation was a valuable addition to our professional resources in the school. It was focused specifically on image use and introduced teachers to Creative Commons. This project inspired me to continue with the topic and create additional presentations to address diverse topics and issues of Copyright and Fair Use.
